SNCAT 101 - Orientation

This mandatory class must be taken by
anyone interested in producing or sponsoring
a program. In addition, this class must be completed prior to equipment certification and equipment
use as a certified access member. This helpful class serves to identify what your role is as a program producer/sponsor and facility user as well as what SNCAT's role is as your access center. This one
hour class is offered free of charge and requires
pre-registration.

Prerequisite: None

Fee: Free with Access Membership

Limit: 40

  • Third Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

Program Underwriting

Learn how to find underwriters to cover the
cost of producing your program.

Prerequisite: Orientation and Access Membership

Fee: Free with Access Membership

Introduction to
Studio Production

This 2-day class is for those interested in
learning the techniques required to run the
equipment in the control room and studio
cameras.

Prerequisite: Orientation and Access Membership

Fee: $250 (resident),
$500 (non-resident)

Studio Refresher

Update to new practices and equipment used
in the SNCAT studio facilities.

Prerequisite: Access Membership and Prior Studio Class Participation

Fee: Free with above prerequites.

Editing 101

Class is an introduction to the basic principles of
editing that will include image acquisition,
manipulation and output. Participante will
receive include hands-on experience in key areas.

Prerequisite: Orientation and Access Membership

Fee: $150 (resident),
$300 (non-resident)

Class Minimum: 2 Class Limit: 4

Introduction to Producing

Learn to develop ideas and organize the fundamental elements in bringing your production to life. Class will include the common mistakes that new producers make and how to avoid them.

Fee: $200 (resident),
$400 (non-resident)

Introduction to Field Production

Designed to provide basic hands-on training on correct camera controls, techniques and shot composition.

Prerequisite: Orientation and Access Membership

Fee: $200 (resident),
$400 (non-resident)

Know your screenplay/storyline, characters, time period as well as producers and directors

Web Design

This class will teach the necessities and best practices needed to design flexible and beautiful Web pages using HTML, XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Prerequisite: Orientation and Access Membership

$550 (non-resident)

What You Should Know

All fees must be paid in full before individuals will be officially registered for classes. Any cancellations must be made a minimum of 72 hours in advance to ensure refund. Minimum age requirement for enrollment is 16 years.
Liability limits mandate that anyone using SNCAT's equipment must be officially certified. Previous experience will not exempt applicants.
In an effort to make classes available to all Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County residents, SNCAT will offer scholarships for each scheduled class in return for volunteer time.
